A great little film. Check it out.
This is an amazing article on Samoan culture and Samoan fragrances. It looks at the pe‘a, marriage and exilic components of the Samoan experience.
I live inHawaii in the island of Oahu. There are a lot of homeless folks living on the streets of Honolulu and the beaches around the isle.
Recently, I worked on a promo for a new reality tv show about everyday people who serve others on a regular basis. A common story I heard and continue to hear is about all of the faceless, nameless citizens of Oahu, who quietly help out the homeless.
A pair of shoes here, a sundress there, cash, meals—anything to help no matter how small, these acts of kindness inspire me to do more. Thank you for your examples to me to get outside of myself and notice those who stand in need.
So, I am about to launch my first new microblog, No. 3 will be going up this weekend. I’ll be posting daily tidbits from the world of rugby. From tournaments to techniques, No. 3 will talk about rugby from my perspective as a front row forward. Enjoy.
So, I’ve decided that in addition to this blog that deals more storytelling and production, I will write microblogs on rugby (numbr3), sailing (deepwideblue), bobsledding (no title yet), and my experiences in the Army (Army Strong Stories.com—I’ll post direct links later).
I consider these my on going research projects for the things I love to do. The number may expand or drop depending on time , my interest, and available info.
Look for the links in the next few days.
I stood along the wall in theater #1 at the AFI Silver Theater watch the premier screening of Pete Seeger: The Power of Song. As I stood there, my jaw dropped as I learned about this true American. Admittedly, I was there just to see what kind of a scene the opening screening of this festival was like. They nailed it by opening with this film.
I stood there, wondering where my generation’s Pete Seeger is. Our nation is once again in the midst of political turmoil, spurred on by a president who isn’t paying attention to reality. The war has polarized our nation, pitting friends and family against each other. Where is our pied piper to get us all to listen to reason and band together to do the right thing.
How did I not know more about this man? How did I not know that he is the one that popularized the US Civil Rights movement anthem, We Shall Over Come?” Or that he stood tall in the face the House Un-American Activities Committee witch hunt with out flinching.
I have much to learn.
